July 16th, or How We Became Outlaws

Chris we all hope you are feeling better soon.

We talked about the possibility of gaming on August 13th. Eric will let us know by early in August or late in July if he thinks he can get the game in.

6th Flocktime

We leave Gradsul and cross into the Principality of Ulek. Arrange a marching order and watches. Talk to some dwarven Prince's Men.

7th Flocktime

We encounter a group of Orc/Satyr type creatures who all look identical. 13 of them. As one dies the others become stronger, heartier and better protected. They are resistant to nonmagical weapons (DR/magic *). We defeat them but barely.

8th Flocktime

We get caught in a thunder storm and seek shelter at a small inn.

9th Flocktime

Party fully healed. We encounter a knight of the watch. A heavilly guarded caravan. The people appear Backlunish. On of the guards gives us the blessing of Akbar, chief good god of the Backlunish gods.

10th Flocktime

We cross through a small village in the morning. We encounter a caravan being set on by brigands. Kespin moves ahead and kills the lead bandit. The remainder flee. We help out the cotton farmers bringing their goods to market and travell with them.

11th Flocktime

In the morning there is a grass fire to the east. We pass various caravans and farmers. Our mule pulls up lame and the farmers say we have to tend the hoof and rest a day. Kespin heals the animal and we are on our way. He heals an old wound one farmer had, but thought a remove
disease would be more effective.

12th Flocktime

Or the daring attack of Kespin, aided by Westwind and in part by Wrye.
Or how we became to be outlaws.

Eldredd is a city on the wild coast. their shield is a diamond pattern of alternating green and yellow. We met another knight. He had 2 retainers a ranger scout and one we, or I suspected of being a scarlet monk. As they passed the knight said to the monk he would introduce him to all
his friends in Gradsul. After they had passed, Fenstern/Tharion (*aside here) he detected magic. And mentioned a strange hidden aura, sound familiar, non detection medalion?????????Hmmmmm...

I tell Kespin my suspition and suggest that he go back and take care of the monk. Kespin takes off. Fenstern and wrye and I have a discussion and figure one of the halflings should go too. Fenstern casts fly on Westwind. Westwind wings back to see what is going on. Wrye decides to
begin running and Fenstern turns the cart around.

Kespin grapples the monk and turns visible. I fly into a position between the knight and Kespin and the monk. The knight charges by me and I strike him, not for subdual, and draw blood. Kespin is given one mighty smack and I move in and attack the grappled monk. Kespin drops
the monk and wings away to heal. I chase the monk around as the knight chases me and the ranger fires arrows. I strike the monk down after several rounds being nearly knocked unconsious myself. Wrye is just arriving and fires one salvo at the monk before he gets knocked down. Kespin is moving back in slowly healing himself each round. Wrye advances just till Westwind flees. WW places himself next to Wrye and as the knight charges WW again Kespin, invisible, tries to grapple the knight off his horse and fails. Westwind flies off, Wrye grabs Kespin and they both fly off together. The knight stops the chase and we escape.

Wrye suggests that Kespin has some skills that could help us out by entralling the knight he could make suggestions to him. Like the monk is evil. etc......

Our plan is to ditch the cart and head inlamd away from the river and find a place to hide.

Kespin is to come find us. Westwind offers after is is suggested that he is capable of carrying most of the trade bars, thus 60 pounds of gold to which WW has no claim to is now being bourne by him in the overland treck. Meanwhile Kespin in a new disguise makes a friend of the knight and joins him heading south toward Gradsul. Thus far he has bee effective in making suggestions to the knight, but he has some novel thoughts in his head.

We also learned that Kespin needs to think like a bard and not a fighter, now that he doesn't have vast quantities of magical treasure.

*aside: Fenstern presented Kespin with a letter from himself alerting us to the deception played upon us to keep Fenstern in the city. Wrye had a bit of an attitude and went and searched Fenstern/Tharian's chest. It was loaded with gold bars, 60lbs to be exact but we will get to that.

Wrye's character sheet:

Wrye has picked a +1 on the Chaos side of the alignment chart! you should see what Kespin and WW got.
Wrye has gained 4gp and 8sp
He has expended about 20 arrows.
He gained 537 exp.
We have not yet recieved exps from the monk battle and that will depend on how well Kespin does.

I rolled a critical on an attack roll and got to roll 4d6 damage very cool.
